I’ve known Dr. Alex Mac personally for years, and I can’t recommend him and Olympus Sports Therapy highly enough. After suffering a neck injury that left my hand and arm numb, I went to see Alex for treatment. After just one session, the numbness was reduced by about 75%.

His knowledge, skill, and ability to diagnose and treat the root cause of the problem are truly remarkable. He’s a genuine miracle worker who takes the time to understand what’s going on and provides effective, personalized care.

If you’re dealing with pain, an injury, or mobility issues, I highly recommend Dr. Alex Mac and the team at Olympus Sports Therapy.

Dr. Alex is a one-of-a-kind chiropractor who is knowledgeable, attentive, kind, and 100% driven to help his clients succeed in their goals, whether it's healing or strengthening or fine-tuning how their bodies work. I'm so impressed by his energy and drive to keep learning. His is passion for helping people is obvious from the first time you meet him. He has seen almost everyone in my family, from kids to adults. His approach is completely different from other chiros we've seen in the past, where each appt is a 15-min session with the same neck/back adjustments every time. Dr. Alex focuses on the whole body, and he is fantastic at explaining how everything connects and finding ways to work on the source of the issue. Highly recommend Dr. Alex. Excited for him and his new facility in Los Alamitos.

I had a lateral meniscus injury last fall and went to a couple Physical Therapists before working with Olympus Sports Therapy. I was told to rest, stretch, and ice. Flare up after flare up made me start to feel like the only option was surgery to be able to return to some level of active lifestyle again. Olympus sports therapy completely changed that for me. Dr. Alex Mak is very knowledgeable and skilled at simplifying complex information to make it easy for his client to understand. His passion for helping his clients is clear in how supported you feel every step of the way. Working with Alex helped me understand my injury, learn proper body mechanics, lift heavy weights pain free, and rebuild confidence in loading my injured leg. I have gained so much knowledge and hope in being able to move forward with my injury towards an active lifestyle. Save yourself the trouble and money of working with providers who will not offer the same type of individualized care that you’ll find here.
Dr. Mak is hands down the best option to turn too if you want to get down to the root cause of whatever pain you may be experiencing. Personally I suffered a back injury in the military that went misdiagnosed. Working with Dr. Mak, not only corrected imbalances, learning new patterns, and becoming a better athlete. Dr. Mak’s thoroughness led us to uncovering that there was indeed a structural issue. Like you I wanted to avoid surgery at all costs, but it had to happen. Again without Dr Mak I would have continued to suffer and would have never gotten a second opinion outside VA medical. MOST IMPORTANTLY everything I learned working with Dr. Mak has helped my recovery post op ten fold. Ive never left a review this long, and if you read it entirely you should probably call Dr. Mak, you won’t regret it that I can guarantee.

I can't recommend Alex highly enough! My daughter had been dealing with pain in both knees for over a year. X-rays and an MRI showed tendinitis and Osgood-Schlatter disease. The pain had gotten so bad that it affected not only her ability to play sports but even to sit comfortably for long periods. We saw a doctor and tried physical therapy, but unfortunately nothing seemed to help.
I'll admit, I have trust issues when it comes to healthcare providers, so during our consultation I intentionally didn't mention the X-rays, MRI results, or her specific diagnoses. I wanted to see what Alex would find on his own. To my surprise, he identified the problem areas right away and accurately explained what was going on without knowing her imaging results. That gave me a lot of confidence in his knowledge and experience.
A friend recommended Alex, and we're so grateful they did. After just a few sessions, my daughter started saying that her knees felt better. For the first time in a long while, she was motivated to do her exercises at home because she could actually feel the difference.
Now she's back to playing softball after taking a break, and the swelling in her knees has noticeably gone down. Seeing her active and confident again has been amazing. Alex is knowledgeable, caring, and truly made a difference in her recovery. I would absolutely recommend Alex to anyone dealing with knee pain or sports-related injuries!

Dr. Alex Mak developed an excellent program to improve my mobility and stay on track to improved health. After starting a work from home job, I lost sight of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. I pushed myself too hard after living a sedentary lifestyle. What was meant to be a short walk resulted in an injury that resulted in months worth of hip pain. Dr. Mak’s experience in athletics was a game changer to helping me get back on track. Growing up as an athlete and swimming division 1, my instinct is to push myself hard to get back into shape. Dr. Mak helped me realize the importance of measured goals to achieve better outcomes. Knowing my history as a swimmer, he pointed out ways in which my body developed that I should keep an eye out for when lifting weights, running and more. He developed a recovery and strength training plan that considered my work travel schedule and preferred methods of exercise. Dr. Mak has a keen eye for identifying small details that can make a big difference in achieving recovery. I would recommend his services to anyone seeking support after an injury.

As a former competitive swimmer during highschool. I had a chance to work with Dr. Alex Mak and he helped a lot. My flexibility was very bad and that hindered my swimming. Alex was able to give me routine that helped my flexibility ultimately helping my swimming. Pretty much he knows his stuff and I highly recommend.

Don’t think of this as a typical review written for business—think it as a genuine testimony! As a self-proclaimed athlete with a background in soccer and track (though you DONT have to be an athlete), this experience was truly a self investment in body mobility, agility, performance, endurance, strength, and—most importantly—optimal function. And if you think you’re already fine in these areas, you probably aren’t if you’re reading this.
Dr. Alex Mak will quickly humble you and help you realize that many of our injuries stem from imbalances, mechanics, and not functioning optimally. As I mentioned, this is a true investment in yourself. You have to put in the work to see results—my pain didn’t disappear instantly or overnight. Through a constant desire to grow, feel better (with little to no pain), and consistent training both in and out of the his gym and office real progress happens.
Dr. Alex Mak is young, easygoing, polite, and extremely professional and informative, which makes the entire process more comfortable which felt amazing! You never feel alone during the rehabilitation journey. Having someone on your side who truly understands what you’re feeling—at your worst pain and at every stage of recovery—is incredibly reassuring. He explains what you should be feeling throughout recovery, so you know you’re not only healing but progressing.
I stubbornly learned that pain doesn’t go away overnight—it’s a process. The body works as one complete unit, and everything must be kept in check and aligned. After completing my sessions, I can confidently say I came out pain-free, stronger, and far more knowledgeable—allowing me to live a more optimal life. If you’re experiencing pain, don’t hesitate to work with Dr. Alex Mak. He genuinely helps you understand your body, your injuries, and how to overcome them!

Dr. Mak is truly exceptional. His expertise goes far beyond simply addressing pain—he takes the time to deeply understand the unique challenges of each patient. In my case, he carefully assessed the long‑term impact of my back injury and multiple surgeries, dedicating quality time to listen, evaluate, and design a treatment plan tailored specifically to my needs.

What impressed me most was his holistic approach: he didn’t just focus on temporary relief, but created a structured program of strengthening exercises and supportive routines to help rebuild my stability and resilience. Through his guidance, I not only regained physical strength but also developed the confidence to continue working out independently, something I never thought possible given my history of trauma.

Beyond his professional skill, Dr. Mak brings an approachable, down‑to‑earth energy that makes every session feel encouraging and motivating. He’s knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely invested in his patients’ progress. Simply put, he’s not only knows his craft inside and out—he’s also a genuine person to be around.

After my medical doctor referred me to Physical Therapy, I thought my back pain and sciatica pains would eventually heal. After months, I finally “came to gribs” about my situation. My pain was becoming disabling and I needed help. I started searching my area, and what I wanted from physical therapy. Strength and mobility needed to be important to my therapy. My pain needed to be gone or at less become more manageable from therapy. After finding a few practices I started looking through their respective social media accounts. I found and followed Dr.Alexmax on instagram. I found the account informative and helpful. To my surprise, a Direct message from the account was sent to me and they invited me to have a consultation. Long story short, I signed up and after a few sessions I started feeling real relief from sciatica pains. I’m about to have my 15th session and I can confidently state I’ve been giving a foundation to continue a more hopeful and healthy life with less pain and more energy. Highly recommend this practice with anyone who need help with physical therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Pain in these areas can come from a mix of causes such as misalignment, muscle tension, poor movement patterns, or often, a combination of all three. Rather than simply guessing, we always start with a detailed assessment to pinpoint what’s actually driving your symptoms. We look beyond the pain itself to find the true root cause, so your recovery is faster and the results actually last.

Yes. We treat the full body — the spine, upper body, and lower body — and work with athletes, active adults, and motivated individuals to identify the true source of pain and build a clear plan back to full activity. We combine manual therapy, movement retraining, and progressive strengthening to reduce pain and rebuild function for a full range of sports injuries.

At Olympus Sports Therapy, we don’t rely on one tool to fix every problem. Unlike a general sports medicine approach that often focuses on just one discipline, our care blends four approaches: spinal manipulation (targeted adjustments that correct misalignments and improve mobility), manual therapy (hands-on soft tissue work that releases tension and restores range of motion), rehab exercises (custom programs that rebuild stability and strength), and performance training (conditioning built for your sport and daily life).

We give you the tools to understand your own body, hold onto your progress, and reduce your chances of future injuries.

Your first appointment is free and runs about 60 minutes. It’s a low-pressure conversation and hands-on assessment designed to understand your body mechanics and what’s likely causing your issue. It typically includes a quick intake covering what’s hurting, what triggers it, and your training goals, followed by a movement assessment looking at mobility, strength, control, and sport-specific patterns. From there, we walk you through a clear plan with our observations, why the issue is likely happening, and the best path forward.

Every plan is built around your specific goals and challenges, so timelines are going to vary from person to person. Many patients start noticing improvement within the first few sessions, but during your first visit, we’ll give you a projected timeline based on what we find in your assessment.
