Frequently Asked Questions
Pain in these areas can come from a mix of causes such as misalignment, muscle tension, poor movement patterns, or often, a combination of all three. Rather than simply guessing, we always start with a detailed assessment to pinpoint what’s actually driving your symptoms. We look beyond the pain itself to find the true root cause, so your recovery is faster and the results actually last.
Yes. We treat the full body — the spine, upper body, and lower body — and work with athletes, active adults, and motivated individuals to identify the true source of pain and build a clear plan back to full activity. We combine manual therapy, movement retraining, and progressive strengthening to reduce pain and rebuild function for a full range of sports injuries.
At Olympus Sports Therapy, we don’t rely on one tool to fix every problem. Unlike a general sports medicine approach that often focuses on just one discipline, our care blends four approaches: spinal manipulation (targeted adjustments that correct misalignments and improve mobility), manual therapy (hands-on soft tissue work that releases tension and restores range of motion), rehab exercises (custom programs that rebuild stability and strength), and performance training (conditioning built for your sport and daily life).
We give you the tools to understand your own body, hold onto your progress, and reduce your chances of future injuries.
Your first appointment is free and runs about 60 minutes. It’s a low-pressure conversation and hands-on assessment designed to understand your body mechanics and what’s likely causing your issue. It typically includes a quick intake covering what’s hurting, what triggers it, and your training goals, followed by a movement assessment looking at mobility, strength, control, and sport-specific patterns. From there, we walk you through a clear plan with our observations, why the issue is likely happening, and the best path forward.
Every plan is built around your specific goals and challenges, so timelines are going to vary from person to person. Many patients start noticing improvement within the first few sessions, but during your first visit, we’ll give you a projected timeline based on what we find in your assessment.
Dr. Alex Mak, DC, CCSP, CSCS, QME
I was the kid who was told to quit after years of sports and constant injuries, so I became the provider I never had, earning a kinesiology degree at SDSU, graduating chiropractic school summa cum laude, and doubling my clinical hours to obsessively master human movement. Olympus Sports Therapy is built on identifying the root cause, building a real progression plan, and guiding athletes from pain and setbacks back to stronger performance.
